Jonah Kidd (b. 1995, Swindon, UK) is a creative technologist, multidisciplinary artist and software developer whose practice explores the intersection of sound, computation and visual systems. Working across software engineering, music technology and contemporary art, he develops tools and experiences that investigate algorithmic composition, generative processes and the relationship between structured systems and creative expression.
Originally trained in Film and Filmmaking, Jonah's practice has evolved through graphic design, moving image, sound and installation before arriving at software development as both a creative medium and a research methodology. He is currently studying for an MA in Music Production at dBs Institute in Bristol, with a research emphasis on indeterminacy, temporality, computational approaches to composition and the emerging applications of quantum computing within sound synthesis. Alongside his postgraduate studies, he continues to expand his practice into creative technology and audio software development, exploring the relationship between mathematical systems, sonic behaviour and creative expression.
Alongside his research, Jonah is developing a portfolio of modern C++ software projects, building interactive systems, game engines and audio applications as the foundation for a future creative technology studio specialising in VST instruments, audio plugins and generative music tools. His development process is documented publicly through technical writing and open-source projects, reflecting an ongoing commitment to understanding software engineering from first principles.
Alongside his research and technical development, Jonah produces and releases music under the alias Dekalog, an experimental electronic music project exploring atmospheric composition, sonic indeterminacy and the relationship between texture, structure and temporality. His work spans ambient, techno drone and experimental electronic music, drawing upon cinematic sound design and computational approaches to composition. With releases through Aurora Records and Lost Domain, Dekalog serves as an extension of his wider artistic and technological practice, providing a space in which theoretical research, experimental methodologies and musical expression converge.
Whether composing music, writing software or designing visual identities, Jonah approaches each discipline through the same underlying principles: clarity of structure, attention to atmosphere and a belief that carefully designed systems can become powerful creative instruments in their own right.
